Myself as Popfeminist-Artist / Fondrie Darling Montréal
Video

It's not about me, it's about – YOU."

"I rehearse this like crazy! But the object wasn´t going on for ever.

The object was to make a statement and it´s done!"

The video film "1st PSYCHO-POP Subjection" is the first part of a total of 5 video performances. Seemingly structured according to common music genres like pop / folk / free jazz / dark wave etc., the images revolve around hedonistic pop concepts, which function as a representational norm and distance through a lack of emotion. For example, consciously underarticulated body gestures or overarticulated speech singing. Whoever tries to ironize Pop, however, creates new Pop - broken codes.
The monologues consist of a reference system of pseudo-feminist sayings and are always directed at the viewer: "It's not about me, it's about - YOU."

The artist acts as an "art gymnast" playing through themes such as sexuality, unity, aggressiveness, refusal, depression and the search for identity. In her videos, she shows open, creative processes that connect theatre and art, questioning female roles between authenticity and projection. An instrument of subjective liberation. It is therefore not a self-portrait, but a critical staging of the viewer's point. This gaze is attracted by his own, perhaps clichéd desire to look at things. The observer discovers the exciting lack of authenticity.
